Statement

I make drawings of the world I choose to inhabit, which is mostly some slightly wild place, without any people in it. For years, while I was living in London, (UK), the aim of my work was to escape the hectic pace of city life, and make time for the quiet contemplation of the natural world. I saw out the wilder places of the city – riversides, woods, meadows – and made work that aspires, unashamedly, to be beautiful, while also arresting, the way the view would have initially caught my eye and compelled me to capture it. Now that I live in Victoria again, I can easily immerse myself in the wilderness and waters around me, and enjoy the serenity of an escape on a weekly basis.
