The Wonder of Water: Exploring Our Place in the Hydrosphere

Welcome to Metchosin ArtPod's  ONLINE GALLERY for the juried show...

The Wonder of Water:

Exploring Our Place in the Hydrosphere

WATER: it is essential to our survival. We are born from water, are mostly made of water, and live surrounded by water. It sustains us and perhaps defines us. In preparation for 2024's World Earth Day on 22 April 2024, we invited artists to express their unique experiences and perspectives on water, explore their personal relationship with water, and their sense of place in the wonderous, watery HYDROSPHERE.

The juror for this show is ceramic sculptor and installation artist, Samantha Dickie. Check out her lovely work: on Instagram: www.instagram.com/samantha.dic...  or Website: www.samanthadickie.com

Our goal for 2024 is to enhance our visual art exhibits by asking our artists to suggest music pairings that inspired their work, or speak to it in some way. We create the playlists on YouTube and make them available to the public via a link on our website. For this show, artists were encouraged submit a suggestion of “watery” music relating to their piece!

The web gallery is where you can vote for your favourite piece in the show. At the end of the show's run, votes are tallied and a People's Choice Award is presented to the deserving winner!

This show also exists in real life in Metchosin, BC, Canada, at Metchosin ArtPod. We highly encourage you to come see it  in person during its run from April 12th 2024- May 26th 2024. People are always happy to have seen the show in person; it is quite a different experience from seeing it on-line.

**Note that ArtPod is open from 11am-4pm  from Fri-Sun.**

We welcome everyone to our  Opening Celebration on SATURDAY 13 April between 2-4. Meet our juror, Samantha Dickie, and hear how she chose the works featured in this show,  listen to accepted artists in attendance speak about their works and process, and celebrate the 3 Juror's Choice Winners!
