Statement
I use photography as a form of artistic expression with a goal of creating impressionistic artwork that is rich, vibrant and bold in colour. Although the technical aspects of photography are a good benchmark for a successful image, it is the emotional impact of an image, that matters most to me in my photography and it is what I try to bring to every photograph.
I enjoy all genres of photography, but have a particular interest in macro photography, especially emphasizing water drops as the main visual element. Water drops are delicate and fragile, and their simplicity is captivating. Photographing their many shapes, forms and moods creates endless creative possibilities. Some of my work focuses on high-speed macro photography which allows the capture of minute details often unseen by our naked eye, such as freezing the dramatic action of two water drops colliding, or water and paint dancing and mixing together when placed on a speaker and the music turned up loud. Some of my captures are intriguing abstracts created by photographing drops of oil floating on the surface of water.
“Quiet Radiance” is a static macro image capturing water drops on a single dandelion seed head.
